Artists need photographic images of their artwork.   Maybe it’s for a juried competition, a submission to an art gallery or just to preserve a record of the artwork.   It is very important for artists to have the photographic presentation of their artwork accurately represented.

Slides and/or Digital CD

For many years, I have been producing HIGH QUALITY COLOR SLIDES of artwork, for myself and for many other artists.   To this service, I apply my photographic knowledge and experience and use top quality professional film and equipment.

The demand for this service is gradually shifting to digital, and therefore, demand for HIGH QUALITY DIGITAL FILES of artwork has been increasing.   At my studio, and in collaboration with a digital color management company, I have been offering digital services to the Portland area artist community.   The services include digital camera imaging direct to computer at my studio and HIGH RESOLUTION TIFF FILES, profiled to ICC color standards, burned on COMPACT DISC.   Depending on your needs, other post-processing digital services are also available, such as image resizing, manipulation and file conversions.

Two Dimensional and Three Dimensional

Both categories of artwork can be accommodated.  In consultation with the artist, aesthetic decisions are made in advance of the shoot: cropping, background, bracketing, etc., and in the case of 3-D artwork, background color, light and shadow, perspective, view, etc.   In either slide or digital, DETAIL SHOTS of the artwork can also be made with close focusing equipment.

Several Format Sizes

35mm slides and digital files are the most popular and widely demanded, and sometimes required, formats.  However, for any special needs that artists may have, in slide/transparency service, I also offer: super slides, 6cm X 4.5cm (2-1/4” x 1-5/8”), 6cm x 6cm (2-1/4” x 2-1/4”), 6cm x 7cm (2-1/4” x 2-3/4”), 6cm x 9cm (2-1/4” x 3-1/4”) and 4” x 5”.

Pick-up and delivery service is not offered.   However, self delivery and pick-up are easy.   The studio is in a building with street level drive-in loading and unloading, flatbed hand trucks and freight elevator.   The double-door studio entrance is six feet wide.   Utmost care is taken to protect your artwork while at the studio.

If you’re not satisfied, you don’t pay for any services or expenses. If you are satisfied, pay the invoice with cash or check and take the slides and/or CDs.

Lecturer on Photographing Artwork
